This was used for traitors. mainly, The person was drawn by cart to the gallows, then hunged, then their body was cut up in to quarters, and placed on four stakes on the corners of the gallows as a warning to all traitors.

wow...i remember studying drawn hanged and quartered but it was different... drawn was like thes metal things they put on your head and around your ankles and pulled you basicly apart hanged is the same as always and quartered was where each of your legs and arms were tied to a hors and the four horses ran in the opposite direction.....

no no no no... with the horses your thinking about the four winds. and with the pulling apart on with the metal clasps think you could be thinking about the rack there was two methods of the rack. I'll get to those ones later.
