Duinhir Lord of the Blackroot Vale during the War of the Ring. Duinhir was a tall man. He had two sons named Derufin and Duilin. On March 9, 3019, Duinhir came to Minas Tirith with his sons and 500 archers to help defend the City. They fought in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields on March 15. Both of Duinhir's sons died in the battle. Names & Etymology: Duinhir means "river lord" from duin meaning "river" and hîr meaning "lord." His name was probably a reference to the Blackroot River, or Morthond, which began in the Blackroot Vale.
