Háma, son of Helm Son of King Helm of Rohan. Hama had an older brother named Haleth as well as a sister. When Rohan was invaded by Men of Dunland in 2758, Hama took refuge with his father in the stronghold that became known as Helm's Deep. The Rohirrim were besieged there during the Long Winter. After Yule they ran low on supplies and the people were starving. Hama led a group of Rohirrim out on a foray to find food but they were lost in the snow and never returned. Helm was deeply grieved and he often went out alone and killed many Dunlendings until he froze to death. Haleth had also died during the invasion, so the First Line of Kings ended with Helm. Helm's nephew Frealaf succeeded him, beginning the Second Line of Kings.
Names & Etymology: Háma may be derived from the Old English word hám meaning "village, hamlet" or it may come from the word hama meaning "covering, garment."
