Haleth Son of Helm Hammerhand. Haleth had a younger brother named Hama and a sister. When Rohan was invaded by Men of Dunland in 2758, Haleth tried to defend Edoras from capture. He was killed at the doors of Meduseld and was the last of the defenders to die. The Dunlendings occupied Edoras and their leader Wulf sat on the throne in Meduseld until Haleth's cousin Frealaf drove out the invaders. Since both Haleth and his brother Hama were killed during the invasion, the First Line of Kings of Rohan ended and Frealaf became the first of the Second Line of Kings.
Names & Etymology: The name Haleth is from the Old English hæleþ meaning "man, hero, fighter."
