Araphor Ninth King of Arthedain in the North-kingdom. Araphor was born in 1391. He was the son of Arveleg I. After Arveleg was slain by the forces of the Witch-king of Angmar in 1409, Araphor repelled the enemy forces from Fornost and the North Downs with the help of Cirdan the Shipwright from the Grey Havens. Araphor was only about 18 years old at the time. He succeeded his father as King of Arthedain and ruled until his death in 1589. He was in turn succeeded by his son Argeleb II. Etymology: The element ara means "royal, king." The element phor means "right-hand."
