Arador Grandfather of Aragorn, King Elessar. Arador was born in 2820. He became the fourteenth Chieftain of the Dunedain in 2912 after the death of his father Argonui. Arador's son Arathorn married Gilraen in 2929. One year later in 2930, Arador was killed by Hill-trolls in the Coldfells north of Rivendell. Names & Etymology: Arador may mean "royal lord" from the element ara meaning "royal, king" and dor, a form of taur, meaning "high, noble, lofty."
