Whenever you see a bright object in the west after sunset,it is probably Venus, When Venus shines brightly like this it is known as the " Evening star "Though of coarse it realy isn't a star. Stars shine with their own light, while Venus shines becausse it is reflecting light from the Sun, just as the other planets and moons do. At other times you will see Venus rise in the morning. It is known as the " Morning star ".At still other times, Venus is to close to the Sun in the sky for you to see it from Earth.
